Caymus Vineyards is Featured as an Associate Sponsor on California Native Mears’ No. 13 GEICO Ford Fusion for Sonoma Race

Mooresville, NC (June 17, 2013) – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team Germain Racing is proud to announce that Caymus Vineyards, part of the prestigious Wagner Family of Wine, will be on board the No. 13 GEICO Ford Fusion as an associate sponsor for the upcoming Sonoma Raceway event.

"We are very proud to have Caymus Vineyards and the Wagner Family of Wine partner with us on the 13 GEICO Ford Fusion at Sonoma this year. I had an opportunity to visit Caymus with friends in 2011 and Chuck Wagner actually took the time to give us a personal tour. The Wagners are certainly one of the most well respected families in the wine-making business and we're looking forward to representing them on the track,” said Bob Germain Jr., team owner of Germain Racing.

Having a prestigious California winery with such a strong commitment to family tradition and producing quality products makes the Caymus Vineyards pairing with Casey Mears, of Bakersfield, CA, and Germain Racing a perfect match.

“We are pleased to be an Associate Sponsor of Casey Mears from Germain Racing and supporter of NASCAR for this year’s Sonoma race. In addition to enjoying this great sport, Caymus has many friends connected with NASCAR and we are happy to be able to support them in some way,” said Chuck Wagner, Owner/Winemaker, Caymus Vineyards and Wagner Family of Wine.

Sunday’s race day broadcasts begin with RaceDay on SPEED at Noon Eastern, followed on TNT by Countdown to Green starting at 2:00 PM ET and the race coverage at 3:00 PM. Radio broadcasts can be heard on PRN and Sirius XM Ch. 90.

The Toyota/Save Mart 350 is a 350K/218.9-mile,110-lap event which will be live from Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, CA. The track has a Twitter feed @RaceSonoma and NASCAR keeps fans in the loop @NASCAR and @NASCARStats.

The Wagners come from a long line of grape growers and winemakers with a farming legacy that can be traced back 156 years in the Napa Valley.  It's been over 40 years since Charlie and Lorna Wagner, along with son, Chuck, founded Caymus Vineyards in Rutherford, Napa Valley and today they are proud to showcase a collection of wine brands that have a reputation for quality and consistency, sourced from the premiere wine growing regions of California. The Wagner Family of Wine has proven they are clear leaders as they are the only winery in the world to have been awarded the title of “Wine of the Year” by Wine Spectator, twice for their Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon.   Charlie Wagner, Sr. begun as a “home winemaker” in the 1960’s using grapes planted behind their farmhouse and today, Chuck Wagner continues to make world-renowned Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley; his older son Charlie II makes Mer Soleil Chardonnay in the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County and Joseph makes Belle Glos Pinot Noir sourced from three prestigious coastal appellations of California.  They also make Conundrum, which has set the benchmark for luxury California wine blends for over twenty years. Chuck’s daughter Jenny recently joined the family business and has just started making Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot in Napa Valley.  Youngest daughter, Erin is enrolled in college.
