No. 5 Randy Moss Motorsports International Trucks/Monaco RVs Toyota Tundra News and Notes
- This Week’s Tundra… The No. 5 International Trucks/Monaco RVs team and Germain Racing driver Todd Bodine will utilize GR-018 in Friday’s 150-lap NCWTS race at Chicagoland Speedway. This is the same truck that Bodine drove to a ninth-place finish two weeks ago at Atlanta, and it was raced earlier this season at Pocono (12th), Michigan (11th) and Nashville (6th). Mike Hillman Jr. will once again be atop the pit box calling the shots for the defending series champion as this marks the eighth race of a collaborative effort between Germain Racing and Randy Moss Motorsports to field the No. 5 Tundra. Bodine has finished no worse than 12th in those seven previous races, with an average finish of ninth.
· Starting Up Front… Bodine captured the first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole at Chicagoland Speedway (2001), as well as the first Nationwide Series pole (2002). Bodine captured the pole award in the Camping World Truck Series' second trip to Chicagoland (2010) and has earned two runner-up finishes there in the Trucks.
· Holding Steady… With his ninth-place finish last race at Atlanta, Bodine maintained his 10th-place standing in the driver points and is just 16 points out of the top five.
· Watch and Listen… The Fast Five 225 from Chicagoland Speedway will be broadcast live on SPEED, MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, on Friday night. SPEED kicks off its pre-race coverage at 6:30 p.m. CDT, and MRN Radio will begin its live broadcast at 6:45 p.m. CDT on Friday, September 16. SPEED will also carry a live broadcast of qualifying on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. CDT.
Todd Bodine on Chicagoland Speedway:
"Chicago fits into this race team's strong suit. You have to carry momentum at Chicagoland and the tires go away, which slows down the race pace. You have to have your Tundra set up for the long runs and that's where this team has been so strong, and we expect to show that with our International Trucks/Monaco RVs Tundra on Friday night.
"Chicagoland's back straightaway isn't exactly straight, so it makes your corners feel a lot more sweeping than other tracks. The surface is getting some bumps and character from age."
