No. 5 Valvoline Toyota Tundra News and Notes
- This Week’s Tundra… The No. 5 Valvoline team and Germain Racing driver Todd Bodine will utilize GR-018 in Saturday’s 150-lap NCWTS race at Kentucky Speedway. This is the same truck that Bodine most recently drove to a 13th-place finish two weeks ago at Chicagoland Speedway, and it was raced earlier this season at Atlanta (9th), Michigan (11th), Pocono (12th) and Nashville (6th). Mike Hillman Jr. will once again be atop the pit box calling the shots for the defending series champion as this marks the 10th race of a collaborative effort between Germain Racing and Randy Moss Motorsports to field the No. 5 Tundra. Bodine has finished no worse than 13th in those nine previous races, with an average finish of 9.3.
· Track Stats… Bodine scored his 21st career – and most recent – Camping World Truck Series victory at Kentucky Speedway last September. In total, Bodine has one win, three top-five and four top-10 finishes in seven NCWTS starts at Kentucky Speedway, including a runner-up finish in the inaugural Truck Series event. Bodine has accrued the most points of any driver (355) in the last three NCWTS races at Kentucky Speedway. In addition to his Truck Series statistics, Bodine went to Victory Lane at Kentucky in the Nationwide Series in 2002.
· Picking up Places… Bodine has not finished outside of the top four in the final truck series point standings since he began competing full-time in the series in 2005. With his eighth-place finish last weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Bodine is now tied for ninth place in the driver point standings and is just 21 points out of the top five with six races remaining.
· Watch and Listen… The Kentucky 225 from Kentucky Speedway will be broadcast live on SPEED, MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, on Saturday afternoon. SPEED kicks off its pre-race coverage at 7:30 p.m. EDT, and MRN Radio will begin its live broadcast at 7:45 p.m. EDT on Saturday, October 1. Saturday afternoon will also feature a tape-delayed broadcast of qualifying at 6:00 p.m. EDT on SPEED Channel.
Todd Bodine on Kentucky Speedway:
“Kentucky is a perfect track for our team to race this weekend. We’ve had some struggles, but we’ve definitely seen some progress and Kentucky is a great track for us to really get the chance to see what we’ve learned and have a good weekend. The track is a good track for me, personally, and it’s been a great track for the team. I think it holds a special place for our team because two of our sponsors, Valvoline and Georgia Boot, are both located near the track. I am looking forward to seeing what we can get from our No. 5 Valvoline Tundra this weekend.”
