No. 5 International Trucks/Monaco RVs Toyota Tundra News and Notes
- This Week’s Tundra… The No. 5 International Trucks/Monaco RVs team and Germain Racing driver Todd Bodine will utilize GR-019 in Saturday’s 175-lap NCWTS race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. This is the same truck that Bodine most recently drove to a third-place finish last month at Bristol. Mike Hillman Jr. will once again be atop the pit box calling the shots for the defending series champion as this marks the ninth race of a collaborative effort between Germain Racing and Randy Moss Motorsports to field the No. 5 Tundra. Bodine has finished no worse than 13th in those eight previous races, with an average finish of 9.5.
· Track Stats… Bodine has raced in each of NASCAR’s three national divisions at New Hampshire. His best finish is 2nd in the Nationwide Series (2002). His best start is 2nd also in the Nationwide Series (1997) where he has led 213 laps at Loudon. Bodine has two top-five and three top-10 finishes in seven NCWTS starts at NHMS. Bodine has raced modifieds at New Hampshire and may be seen helping Corey LaJoie throughout the race weekend
· Holding Steady… With his 13th-place finish last week at Chicagoland Speedway, Bodine maintained his 10th-place standing in the driver points and is just 18 points out of the top five.
· Watch and Listen… The F.W. Webb 175 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway will be broadcast live on SPEED, MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, on Saturday afternoon. SPEED kicks off its pre-race coverage at 2:30 p.m. EDT, and MRN Radio will begin its live broadcast at 2:45 p.m. EDT on Saturday, September 24.
Todd Bodine on New Hampshire Motor Speedway:
“New Hampshire is a special track – it’s definitely like a home coming. Our team has run really well there before and I’ve been able to get some good results at New Hampshire through the years. We are going back with a different setup and thought process for our No. 5 International Trucks/Monaco RVs Tundra this time to try to do something different. We really don’t need much to make the difference between winning or losing there, but, we need a bit of something so we are trying to look at everything with kind of fresh eyes and see how it works for us.
“If there’s a track where you have to have the best of a chassis setup and the best horsepower, New Hampshire is it. You have to have everything to be good. The truck has to handle on the long, flat corners and it needs the horsepower to pull down the straightaways. It takes the whole package and we hope we have that with our International Trucks/Monaco RVs Tundra this week.”
“Track position is very important at New Hampshire since it’s a track where it is so hard to pass. There are multiple grooves, but none of them are faster.”
