June 9, 2010 (Mooresville, N.C.) - NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader Todd Bodine is set to steer the No. 30 Germain.com Tundra around Michigan International Speedway in search of another NASCAR career victory at the track. Bodine has two victories in NASCAR’s number two division at the Brooklyn, MI, facility. He and the Germain.com Tundra team have finished fifth or better in seven of eight races this season.

“Racing a truck at Michigan is a lot like running a speedway. The draft is huge. You really have to pay attention to it and understand it. At the same time, handling is critical because the corners are so long, the race track’s worn out and the grip isn’t good, so the handling of the truck has to be perfect. It takes every aspect to be perfect in order to be fast at Michigan. The way this Germain.com Tundra team is working, I’m looking forward to us having another good race weekend at Michigan,” said Bodine.

Bodine raced chassis TRD-122 at Michigan last year. This year TRD-131 gets the nod for duty on the 2-mile oval. Chassis TRD-131 made its Germain Racing debut at Nashville, scoring a fifth-place finish. The truck then was raced at Kansas (third-place), Dover (fifth-place), Charlotte (second-place) and Texas (win).

“We’ve had several race trucks over the years that have been winners and workhorses in our truck inventory. We haven’t had a clear-cut favorite chassis in the last couple seasons that’s given us the consistent performances that TRD-131 has. This truck has delivered top-five performances each time it’s been put on the track and we’re confident it’s the right truck for Michigan,” explained crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. of the truck that won last weekend in Texas and will race Saturday at Michigan.

Bodine captured the 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship points lead following race seven at Charlotte. After eight races, he has a 65-point lead over second-place Aric Almirola. In the Truck Series owner’s standings, Germain Racing took the lead over Kyle Busch Motorsports by 12 points following last week’s win at Texas.

Mooresville, NC (06-08-2010) – NASCAR K&N Pro Series East rookie Zach Germain raced Sunday afternoon in the rain-shortened event at Martinsville Speedway. The Ohio native raced his way through the field to ninth-place before getting caught on pit road by the rainfall and then finishing 15^th in his fourth NASCAR career start. The weekend was a unique and intense learning experience for Germain who had what he considered to be an all-star crew.

“Our Germain.com Camry team learned and accomplished more than I could have hoped for this weekend at Martinsville Speedway. A lot of that is due to our teammates on the No. 30 Valvoline Tundra crew that came straight to Martinsville on Saturday after winning the race in Texas on Friday night. For me and my team, having them there allowed us to learn in very controlled steps throughout the practice sessions, qualifying and the race. We achieved our team goal of completing all of the laps and we really competed this weekend. It was wild. There was a lot of beating and banging but that’s Martinsville,” said Germain.

Germain received driver-coaching from Truck Series champion Todd Bodine and learned that sometimes different setups simply require different driving styles.

“At first, I had a tough time figuring out my braking and throttle points through the corners. Todd Bodine was generous enough to come out first thing after his Texas win and help me. He was very helpful when it came to a fast line around the track. Mike Hillman Jr. made great changes to the Germain.com Camry and during the last five laps of the first practice I finally figured out my style of driving around Martinsville. It was a great feeling,” explained Germain.

Mike Hillman Jr. didn’t plan to go to Martinsville Speedway to handle the crew chief role for the rookie driver and young team, but, Hillman loves being a crew chief and doing anything he can to make Germain Racing a success on the race track. Hillman explained that he used a different approach with Germain than he does with his regular driver, Bodine.

“The way I approached Saturday and Sunday was a lot different than the way I approached Thursday and Friday because then I was working with Todd Bodine, and I know by the tone of Todd’s voice what he needs changed. Working with Zach, in my first K&N Pro Series East race, I knew that it was our first race together, and I knew that what’s most important is completing all of the race laps, all of practice – every lap possible. With Zach being a rookie driver at a Cup Series facility like Martinsville, track time is extremely valuable. I listened to Zach’s feedback, made changes and listened to hear him react to and understand those changes. It worked great and we improved the car every time,” said Hillman.

Hillman and his crew members had been anxious to work a K&N Pro Series race since the season began, but Martinsville was the first time the scheduling worked out.

“I love racing. I love being a crew chief. Working with Zach and the 24 crew, and our sister team, the No. 77 Camry with Jeff (McClure) and Miguel (Paludo) in the East Series was really fun. We have two great teams competing in the K&N Series and this weekend made me even more proud to work for Germain Racing,” said Hillman.

 Mooresville, NC (06-07-2010) – Todd Bodine might need to change his nickname from “The Onion” to “The Lonestar Legend.” Bodine, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader, kept the No. 30 Valvoline Tundra out in front of the Truck Series field for 106 of 169 laps, collecting his sixth win at Texas Motor Speedway, the 18^th victory in his Truck Series career. Germain Racing now has seven Texas victories as part of the team’s total count of 19 wins. The No. 30 Valvoline Tundra team leads all Tundra teams in total victories. A great race truck and strong teamwork were the key ingredients in Friday’s winning performance.

 “Tonight’s win felt great. We’ve been struggling all year to make the trucks drive well and (Mike Hillman) Junior and the team went to work and figured it out. The No. 30 Valvoline Tundra was driving well and it was fast. It was wide open. It was fun to drive, it really was.,” said Bodine, who’s struggles have resulted in top-five finishes in seven of eight Truck Series races this season.

 Just past halfway, Bodine was struggling with a tight handling condition when he was running in second-place. The crew helped Bodine fix the problem the best way possible.

 “The difference that got us back up front in clean air where we could run well late in the race was our last pit stop. The crew did an unbelievable job. They beat everybody out by a second or two. You have to have everything go right and that’s what happened tonight. We had a great Tundra and with it being the first race for Valvoline with the team…to come out of here with a win…I think that’s the second time we’ve done that with a new sponsor. It was an awesome night all the way around,” said Bodine.

 Winning at Texas has become a bit of an annual tradition for Germain Racing. Since opening shop in 2004, the team has only been winless at Texas one season, 2008, but in that season, the team still earned a pole award and the No. 30 Tundra scored two top-five finishes.

 “It’s great to come out of Texas with the win, obviously. Everybody talks about momentum and what it does for your team. Our guys, it wouldn’t matter if we came out of here finishing 30th, they’re going to go home and work just as hard for the next race and prepare the best they can. That’s the one good thing about our race team -- we don’t ever give up. To come out of here with a win for the stretch, it’s awesome but it’s just one win, it’s one track and we have to go to Michigan next week and beat them up there,” said Bodine.

 While “everything in Texas is big,” winning in a Toyota Tundra in Texas is huge. The state is home to Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Texas (TMMTX), a production facility located in San Antonio that produces the Toyota Tacoma and Tundra pickup trucks. The facility directly employs nearly 2,000 Toyota team members and indirectly another 2,000 people are employed at area suppliers.

Lebanon, Tenn. (June 7, 2010) – In the first stand-alone NASCAR Nationwide Series race of the 2010 season, Germain Racing driver Michael Annett recorded a top-15 finish in the Federated Auto Parts 300.

Annett’s 14th place finish at Nashville Superspeedway boosted him two spots in the NASCAR Nationwide Series championship point standings to 13th, just 31 points outside of the top-10.

The No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers Toyota Camry started the 225 lap race 20th.

While fighting a tight handling condition, Annett was running 15th when the call was made to pit under green on lap 59 for new tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment. Just as the No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers Toyota Camry returned to the track, a caution came out on lap 61. With a loose lug nut from the previous pit stop, the No. 15 was forced to pit road again on lap 64, causing Annett to go two laps down to the lead lap cars.

Determined to fight his way back, Annett ran fast, consistent lap times waiting for his break to put him back on the lead lap. With a wave around and Lucky Dog free pass, the No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers Toyota was back on the lead lap, competing for position on lap 112.

Annett worked his way into the top-15 again by lap 133, but continued to fight a tight condition until the finish. The No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers Camry drove through the checkered flag in 14th.

The Nationwide Series will now compete in their second consecutive non-companion race as they travel to Kentucky Speedway for the Meijer 300.

Starting fourth and finishing seventh in the 2009 Meijer 300 at Kentucky, the 1.5 mile D-shaped oval proves to be a very strong track for Annett.

Long Pond, PA (June 6, 2010) – A prerequisite for being a champion is the ability to bounce back quickly when trouble strikes.  Max Papis, the 2004 Grand-Am Series Champion, rolled into Pocono Raceway this weekend looking to rebound from a disappointing weekend in Charlotte that found him not qualifying for the Coca-Cola 600.
 
Papis must have the resilience gene because he wasted little time shooting to the top of the practice charts when the #13 GEICO Toyota Camry took to the track for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series’ opening practice session on Friday.  The last couple of weeks, Papis must have felt like he was fighting mountains, but this week he found himself among them.  As Papis wheeled around Pocono Raceway in the #13 GEICO Camry, he spoke to the mountains… and the mountains moved, as he was the fastest ‘go or go home car’ on the speed chart, where he rested in the 20th position.
 
His success in practice would lead to more of the same in qualifying, as Papis hustled the #13 GEICO Camry around the flat 2.5-mile tri-oval in just 53.674 seconds at a rate of speed of 167.679 miles per hour.  His time would be good enough to start 20th in Sunday’s Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500.  Papis’ qualifying performance turned heads, as he sat ten positions better than the next ‘go or go home’ car, Joe Nemechek, who qualified 30th.   He also outpaced many NASCAR notables, such as Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle, just to name a few.  
 
Race day presented its own challenges, as impending bad weather hovered over the area causing concern for the NASCAR teams.  The Sprint Cup Series field would even turn a series of yellow flag laps before the heavy rain set in and caused the driver and teams to abandon their cars and seek shelter from the storm.  
 
In record time, however, the rain cleared, the blue skies came out and the track was dry and it was time to go racing.  Papis and the #13 GEICO Camry started in the 20th position, flanked by Sam Hornish, Jr, and Elliott Sadler.  Two hours after the advertised start time, the green flag was displayed in front of a full house in Long Pond, PA.  Papis would battle a tight condition early and it seems the #13 GEICO Camry would work against him for most of the afternoon.  
 
Due to the rain that blanketed the racetrack prior to the race, the racetrack was in green condition and presented multiple challenges to each of the drivers.  The same would apply to the GEICO Racing team, as they would make numerous changes to the GEICO Camry and attempt to adapt to the conditions of the racetrack.  Aside from the splitter hitting the ground at times, Papis, at one point, felt as though he was running low on brakes.  
 
After a challenging afternoon in the #13 GEICO Camry, his final hurdle came on the last lap of a green/white/checkers finish, when he narrowly avoided a crash that caused heavy smoke to cover the racetrack.  When the checkered flag was displayed, Papis and the #13 GEICO Camry would hustle to a 34th place finish in their debut appearance at Pocono Raceway.
 
“I’m proud of this GEICO team for coming here and rebounding well after a tough week in Charlotte last week,” Papis said.  “We showed we’re resilient and that we never quit. To come here to a track where I have never been before and qualify 20th is a huge accomplishment and I can’t thank Bootie (Barker, crew chief) and the Germain team enough for all of their hard work.  It was a tough day during the race, but we never quit and we kept making changes and working as hard as we could to compete.”
 
GEICO’s next race as primary sponsor of Max Papis’ #13 Germain Racing entry will come at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA, on Sunday, June 20th. During his 2009 visit to wine country, Papis started the race in the 33rd position before charging to the front and nearly scoring a Top 5 finish.  On the final lap of the race, Jeff Gordon got into Papis, causing a tire to go down on his #13 GEICO Camry.  Despite the damage, Papis drove the final lap with a flat tire and still managed to record a 12th place finish.
 
Papis and the #13 GEICO Toyota Camry will make their way around the 1.99-mile road course in Sonoma when their first practice session kicks off at 3:00 PM (EDT) on Friday, June 18th.  Qualifying will follow at 6:35 PM (EDT).
 
The Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is on Sunday, June 20th, and it will be televised live on TNT beginning at 3:00 PM (ET), while the Performance Racing Network (PRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

Lebanon, Tenn. (June 2, 2010) – Nashville Superspeedway, one of two tracks on the NASCAR Nationwide Series circuit centered in the state of Tennessee, will present Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 300, their second Nationwide Series race of the 2010 season, under the lights on the 1.333 mile Music City track.

Following a strong 14th place finish in last week’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Germain Racing driver Michael Annett heads to Nashville Superspeedway on the tail of earning his third consecutive top-15 finish.

He finished 15th in the previous Nationwide Series race at Dover International Speedway and scored an 11th place finish at Darlington Raceway.

The 23-year-old racer qualified 12th and finished ninth in his last race at Nashville Superspeedway in April and looks to secure another top-10 in this week’s Federated Auto Parts 300 with loyal sponsor Pilot Travel Centers on the hood of his Camry. Annett and Pilot, headquartered in the Volunteer State in Knoxville, Tenn., entered the sport together in the ARCA Racing Series in 2007 and have continued their relationship through the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and into the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

"I really enjoy racing at Nashville Superspeedway, so I look forward to this weekend. Historically, it’s a really good track for me, and I’m very proud to represent Pilot Travel Centers colors in their home state.

We’re going to work hard to give them a great finish on Saturday night," said Annett.

"We’ve got some good runs to build on leading into this summer stretch of races," said crew chief Ryan Fugle. Bringing light to the devastating floods that rushed through Nashville and surrounding areas earlier this year, Annett will donate his time to participate in a Nationwide Series autograph session on Saturday at the track. Annett and several of his competitors will sign autographs for fans at the Nationwide Insurance display from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday. Fans interested in attending will be asked to bring monetary donations to the signing to support the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. In addition to taking part in the fundraising autograph session, Annett and many other Nationwide Series drivers have donated signed items to a NASCAR Foundation on-line auction benefiting the cause.

Concord, N.C. (May 31, 2010) – Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway was highlighted by NASCAR’s Nationwide Series Tech-Net Auto Service 300 on Saturday. Michael Annett and Germain Racing’s No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers team showcased St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® on the hood, deck lid and rear quarter panels of the No. 15 Camry at Charlotte to help raise awareness for St. Jude’s lifesaving mission.

Annett qualified 17th for the 200 lap Tech-Net Auto Service 300 and despite getting caught in a spin in an early race restart, brought his No. 15 St. Jude/Pilot Travel Centers car home to a 14th place finish, his third consecutive top-15 finish this season and second consecutive top-15 finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

"It was great to be able to pay tribute to our armed forces and to support St. Jude in their mission to find cures and save children,"

Annett noted. "We had a good car all weekend, but after being turned on the restart on lap 8 we had to work our way out of a hole to gain our 14th place finish. The afternoon race was very different from our usual night race at Charlotte. Track conditions changed a lot during a run. It was a good points day for us and we’re looking forward to heading to Nashville Superpseedway next week in our No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers Toyota."

"Michael did a great job out there. It was hot, slick and there was some tough competition. We thought getting caught behind a slow car on that early restart would slow us down for the rest of the race, but this team never gives up. The guys on pit road repaired some left rear bumper damage and Michael did a heck of a job fighting his way back on the lead lap.

Annett still stands 15th in NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings, just 33 points from the top-10.

Next up, the No. 15 Germain Racing team will travel to Music City USA for the second NASCAR Nationwide Series race this season hosted by Nashville Superspeedway. Annett finished ninth there in April’s Nashville 300 and looks to earn another respectable finish on the 1.333 mile D-shaped oval.

(May 26, 2010) – As Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts NASCAR’s annual Memorial Day weekend of stock car racing competition, Michael Annett and Germain Racing’s No. 15 Nationwide Series team will help bring awareness to the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® for Saturday’s Nationwide Series Tech-Net Auto Service 300.

The No. 15 Toyota Camry will feature the St. Jude logo on the hood, deck lid and rear quarter panels in support of St. Jude, one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers. NASCAR Nationwide Series cars hit the banks of Charlotte Motor Speedway for practice on Thursday at 2 p.m. and final practice at 5:10 p.m.
Qualifying takes place on Saturday at 9:35 a.m. and the green flag drops for the start of the Tech-Net Auto Service 300 at 2:30 p.m. Practice, final practice and qualifying can be seen live on SPEED. Concord, NC (05-22-2010) – After a three hour delay for rain, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series took to the track for 134 laps of racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Germain Racing’s Todd Bodine started ninth, worked his way to the lead and after a series of late-race caution flags, finished second to race winner and fellow Tundra driver Kyle Busch. Bodine’s second-place effort moved him back to the top of the Truck Series championship standings.

“We had a good run. We were too tight in practice and we fought it all practice. We were still too tight in the race and that’s why we just couldn’t quite carry the momentum that Kyle (Busch) could. But our Germain.com Tundra was good tonight. For us, as a team, it was a great night because we’ve struggled all season with this new generation tire that Goodyear’s got and the way our trucks are driving with it. The team worked hard looking through notes and looking through data trying to figure out how to get the 30 truck to where I could drive it and they did. They got it fixed. Tonight we ran with the leaders and it was great to have fun and be so competitive tonight,” said Bodine.

The Germain.com Tundra crew has delivered fast trucks to the track each week, which is why the team has six top-five finishes in seven races this season. The fast trucks and fast pit work came together at Charlotte for a very strong team effort.

"We were there tonight. With the changes we were able to make for Todd to the truck, the great pit stops – we had the Germain.com Tundra where we needed it to be and we were fighting for the win. When the green flag waved for the green/white/checkered finish, it was anyone’s race to win between Kyle, Todd and Ron. This Germain Racing Tundra was in championship form tonight and Todd Bodine drove a great race,” said crew chief Mike Hillman Jr.

Bodine explained that his return to the top of the points standings was a team effort.

“We were in the points lead and we came out of Martinsville with the one finish we’ve had this year outside the top-five and that finish, 30^th, cost us the points lead. This Germain Racing team has been working hard. Like at Dover last week, we didn’t have a truck to win the race, but we still got a fifth. That’s how you win points championships is to take a truck that can’t win but still finish in the top-five. Here at Charlotte tonight we had a good truck and finished second. It was a good night,” said Bodine, obviously proud of the work he and the Germain.com Tundra crew have put into to return to the top of the Truck Series standings.
