Mooresville, N.C. (07-12-2010) – Sunday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Iowa Speedway had all of the drama and excitement one would expect from a short-track race. All four of the top-ranked drivers in the series experienced disappointing and dramatic days, but Todd Bodine was able to withstand the Iowa Speedway shakedown and maintain his spot atop the championship standings. Bodine started ninth and finished 17th after being a party to two on-track altercations. He leads the points by an 88-point margin over second-place Aric Almirola.

“This season has been a return to form for the No. 30 Germain.com Tundra team. We’ve been competitive each weekend and this was no exception. The reason we lead the Truck Series points is because of all the hard work that everyone at Germain Racing has been putting in to improve our race trucks. We are ten races into our 25-race season and we’ve only left two race tracks with finishes that didn’t match the quality of our race truck, and, unfortunately, Iowa Speedway was one of those two race tracks,” explained crew chief Mike Hillman Jr., who has led Bodine and the No. 30 Germain.com Tundra crew to eight top-five finishes this season, including one win.

Bodine was fasted after first practice at Iowa and ranked eighth in final practice. He felt he had a shot to win the pole award heading into qualifying, but knew he had a race truck capable of earning a great finish in the race.

“I think we had a shot at the pole,” said Bodine after qualifying on Saturday at Iowa. “The second lap was the money lap and the Germain.com Tundra broke loose on me in the middle of turns one and two and I didn’t get the lap when it counted. This 30 team has a great Tundra for Sunday, so I’m not too worried about starting ninth.”    

That confidence turned out to be well-placed. Bodine worked his way into the top-three within 50 laps of the race beginning and raced as high as second-place before a few wrinkles relegated the Germain.com Tundra to a 17th-place finish; rookie Austin Dillon scored the victory.

“I am really proud of how hard the guys on the 30 truck worked to make sure our performance at Iowa was an improvement over last year. The Germain.com Tundra was a top-five truck, just like we it has been every week,” said Hillman.

 July 6, 2010 (Mooresville, N.C.) - Last season, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series joined the list of top-tier racing divisions competing in America’s heartland at Iowa Speedway. The .875-mile tri-oval is expected to again be lined with enthusiastic race fans for Sunday’s 200-lap race.  Todd Bodine will steer the No. 30 Germain.com Tundra around Iowa, hoping to continue his six-race top-five streak.

 “Last year we struggled a little bit with Iowa Speedway. This Germain Racing team has been putting in a lot of extra effort to make our Germain.com Tundra faster and better. We tested at Gresham and I’m really looking forward to putting the No. 30 truck in front of the Iowa race fans again,” said Bodine, who leads the Truck Series points and has six consecutive top-five finishes.

 Crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. says the No. 30 Germain.com Tundra should be in shape to put on a great show for Iowa’s racing fans.

 “We tested at Gresham leading into this week’s Iowa race. The test went well and we’re hoping it will give us a chance to put on a great show for the Iowa race fans. It’s a great track and they have one of the biggest crowds we see on the Truck Series schedule. As a team, you definitely look forward to racing for fans like they have at Iowa Speedway,” said Hillman, of Lockport, NY.

 Bodine will race chassis TRD-122. The truck was last seen in the Truck Series at Dover in May where it started 11th and finished fifth.

 “We picked this chassis to race at Iowa because of it’s performance at Dover. The truck was fast enough to win the race, but a fuel pickup issue kept us out of position at the end,” explained Hillman.

 Bodine captured the 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship points lead following race seven at Charlotte. After nine races,  he has a 55-point lead over second-place Aric Almirola. In the Truck Series owner’s standings, Germain Racing has the lead over Kyle Busch Motorsports by 22 points.

Mooresville, NC (06-13-2010) – Whether the racer was strapped in behind the wheel of a race truck, or the racer was perched atop pit wall waiting for the race truck to slide into the pit stall for service, Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series VFW 200 at Michigan International Speedway was chock full of the action that racers live for. Todd Bodine, current Truck Series points leader, led the most laps in a Germain.com Tundra that was the class of the field. Following a series of restarts in the closing laps that produced some extremely intense racing among the top four drivers, Bodine finished second to fellow Tundra driver Aric Almirola.

“We had a great Tundra today and our Germain Racing pit crew did a great job. Aric (Almirola) was just good at the end when he needed it. We had a great race truck. Today was Camping World Truck Series racing at its finest. That’s what it’s about and that’s why people love to watch our races and come to the races. It’s hard-nosed, go get ‘em every lap racing and it’s a lot of fun,” proclaimed Bodine, driver of the No. 30 Germain.com Tundra, following the 100-lap race that concluded with two cautions in the final 20 laps, capping off the event with the feeling of a heat race or showdown.

Crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. enjoyed the racing action and is excited about how Germain Racing’s No. 30 Tundra team has been performing as of late. The effort is bigger than just the pit crew, the race team, the guys at the shop or TRIAD…it’s about everyone.

“We had the best truck in Texas. We had the best truck again in Michigan. I couldn’t be more proud of all the guys that work on our 30 truck. The job these guys do is more than just great pit stops. It’s what they do all week long, working with everyone in the Germain Racing shop. All the guys at TRIAD work really hard to put us in position to win every week. I am very proud of the effort going into this team and the results we’ve been able to get,” said Hillman Jr.

The Germain.com Tundra started the race in seventh position, and Bodine locked it into the top-five a few laps into the race, and credited his pit crew with playing a huge role in keeping him up front all day.

“I said it all along and I say it every week, I have the best crew on pit road. They do a great job and they got us off pit road first. On the second run, our Germain.com Tundra was too tight in the middle, then during the last run, it was too tight on exit. That’s why I just couldn’t roll up outside of Aric there at the end. The crew builds great trucks that are fast off the hauler every week and, knock on wood, we’ll keep doing it and keep plugging away and keep getting these top-fives,” said Bodine, who has scored eight top-five finishes including one victory in nine races this season.

For all the hard work that Bodine and the Germain.com Tundra crew put into preparing for and executing the VFW 200 race this weekend at Michigan, Bodine says his competitors have been working hard, too, which makes it easier for him to be happy about finishing second rather than taking home the victory.

“We didn’t come here to finish second, but we finished second and you have to look at it as a points day. Aric gained a few points on us because he won. We’re back in our form. At the beginning of the year we were struggling pretty hard. (Mike Hillman) Jr. and the crew got it figured out and now the trucks are driving incredibly well. It was a good day. Nobody likes to lose. But, unlike a lot of people, I’m not a sore loser. I’m happy for Aric and Billy (Ballew, team owner) and Richie Wauters (crew chief) and the whole bunch. They worked hard. They’ve proved that they can put any driver in there and win now. That means a lot to a race team and a group of guys that work their guts out every week to put these things on the race track. I’m proud of them to go out there and be able to do that,” said Bodine.

Mooresville, N.C. (May 19, 2010) – Zach Germain, a rookie of the year candidate, is looking forward to the third race of the 2010 NASCAR K&N Pro Series schedule—Iowa Speedway. Since his top-ten finish in his series debut at the season opener competing at South Boston, Germain has picked up a new associate sponsor, JaxWax, and he’s made the most of his affiliation with Germain Racing. The Columbus, OH, native travelled as a pit crew member, observed Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races and logged hours behind the wheel of a racing simulator and a pit stop practice car. Germain is anxious to pull these experiences together when he tightens his belts for the Goodyear Dealers of Iowa 200 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East/West Challenge on May 23rd.

 “Iowa’s K&N Pro Series East/West Challenge will be the longest race of my career, so I’m definitely anxious to get the race weekend started. It’s the biggest track I’ve raced on, but I’ve talked to several veteran drivers and they’ve told me that racing there is just about the basics—lift, set, turn, squeeze. Lift the throttle, settle the car in the corner, turn out of the corner and squeeze the accelerator. I’ve got that set of rules racing through my mind along with the best advice my parents can give me—patience,” said Germain, who will race on the 7/8-mile Iowa Speedway for 200 laps.

Before the on-track activity begins, Zach Germain will have a busy week including an appearance at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C., and NASCAR Day Bowling Event.

“After six weeks ‘off’ between the K&N Pro Series races, May has become very busy. This week we have a lot of sponsor and fan visits at our Germain Racing headquarters, and my family will be in town for the NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction Dinner Gala before we travel to Iowa for the race and the NASCAR Day Bowling Challenge at Bass Pro Shops in Altoona. Next week, the excitement continues in the Charlotte area as even more fans and guests visit the shop during the week of the Coca-Cola 600,” said Germain.

During the down-time in the NKNPSE schedule, Germain did his best to keep his focus on racing.

“Our team’s pit coach, Phil Horton, set me up with some opportunities to drive a pit stop practice car that has a manual transmission. We’ve been to pit road in the Germain.com Camry already this season, and I think the experience we had at Greenville was great preparation, but driving that car, and working with the racing simulator helped keep me focused on racing,” said Germain.

Germain added Columbus-based JaxWax to his No. 24 Germain.com Camry, which will featured an updated paint scheme starting at Iowa.

“I’m very happy thankful to have JaxWax join the team. The timing is great because we just updated the Germain.com Camry to match the No. 30 Germain.com Tundra. The new paint job adds a high gloss finish which will need JaxWax to keep it bright,” said Germain.

Zach Germain races the No. 24 Germain.com Camry Sunday, May 23rd, at 4:00 PM ET at Iowa Speedway. Qualifying is at 1:00 PM. Sunday’s race will air on SPEED on Thursday, May 27th at 1:00 PM ET.
